Nicole Lenoir Bertrand was Consul Général of France in New Orleans during FrancoFête ‘99 and the Congrès Mondial Acadien-Louisiane 1999. Her studies included Master of English in 1965 and diploma of the Institute in Political Studies of Paris in 1967. A career diplomat, she took a competitive exam to enter the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1968. During her life of public services, she served either at the Quai d’Orsay or abroad in seven different countries, including the United States. Her last nomination as a diplomat was Consul Général of France in New Orleans (1996-1999). In 1999, Louisiana celebrated FrancoFête ‘99, the tricentennial of the founding of the French colony of Louisiana. Warren A. Perrin, President of CODOFIL, said: “Ms. Lenoir was very involved and supportive of many cultural events, as well as the Congrès Mondial Acadien-Louisiane 1999. We will never forget the good work she did while she represented France in Louisiana.”

Lenoir was the recipient of the Chevalier de l’Ordre National du Mérite and is fluent in French, English and Spanish. Lenoir’s centers of interest are traveling, classical music, arts, literature and bridge.

Several organizations attended the event, including Philippe Gustin of Le Centre International, Bernard de Reynies, Alliance Française and Lynn Breaux, Son’s of the American Revolution - Attakapas Chapter, who also presented Ms. Lenoir with a certificate of appreciation in recognition of her outstanding support of the organizations.
