Living Legends

Arthur Roland Broussard *
Inducted on April 09, 2011

Arthur Roland Broussard * Arthur Roland “Prof” Broussard, of Abbeville, taught at Meaux High School from 1940 to 1942. With the outbreak of World War II, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served from 1942 to 1946 in the South Pacific.

After leaving the Navy, Broussard taught school at Forked Island Elementary for 10 years, then taught at Eaton Park Elementary in Abbeville. Later, he taught at Henry High School until June, 1980 when he retired. Thereafter, for the following 11 years, he taught half a year which was all that was allowed for retired public school teachers. Finally, in 1991 he retired from the teaching profession. A graduate of LSU, he attended the university with notable citizens of Vermilion Parish such as Nolan Sandoz, Sr., Richard Kibbe and Revis Sirmon.
