The Acadian Museum, located in the heart of Cajun country, commemorates and honors the Acadian heritage and Cajun people of South Louisiana. Here you can find photos of our collection, books explaining our history, stories of our Living Legends, photo galleries, videos, genealogical resources, and more.

Here you can find details about museum history, our mission and purpose, the items in our collection, and affiliated organizations like the New Acadia Project. A special video is provided that gives a brief tour of the museum and the history behind some of the key objects on display.

The Acadian Museum regularly honors individuals who have made significant contributions to shaping and defining Cajun culture. Since 1997, over 250 people have been recognized for their impact in various fields. Nominations come from the community, and award ceremonies are open to the public.

The Acadian Museum exists only through the support of our local community. From volunteers to local leaders to those who simply embody everything we stand for. We are proud to list them as friends of the museum and our highly esteemed cultural representatives.

The Acadian Museum connects you to our culture through the power of video and photography. From recent events to trips down memory lane, select the types of photos you wish to see. Or select Views > Videos on the menu to see our top videos.

Our online boutique lets you shop for books, posters, and more, including our best-selling Healing Traditions of South Louisiana and our international award-winning Acadie: Then and Now. All purchases are tax deductible and help support museum operations.

Only through your donations and volunteer work can we continue our mission of keeping the Cajun culture alive. Your participation and tax-deductible dollars will help us continue to do so.
