Elwood Paul LeBlanc *

Elwood Paul LeBlanc was born on May 14, 1937, the son of Simonette and Eula Primeaux LeBlanc. He was raised in the hamlet of Henry, Louisiana and graduated from Henry High School on May 29, 1956. He was an altar boy of St. John Church in Henry for 19 years and for nine and a half years he served in the 156th Infantry 256 Battalion of Louisiana.
During his life he had many jobs. He worked for the Vermilion Parish School Board for 11 years and was Henry High School’s head custodian for 10 years. LeBlanc retired on May 29, 2004.
Over the years LeBlanc was involved in dedicating his time to the community of Erath. He was in charge of the Baby Contest for the Erath 4th of July, on the board for the Erath 4th of July Association and the Erath Community Building. He was in charge of renting out the Erath Community Building for 18 years and was involved with the Bares Ranch Tootsie Roll Campaign to raise funds for children. He is in the Erath Backers Club and volunteers his time for the Acadian Museum in Erath.
LeBlanc was a member of the family of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. He was one of the ushers at church, a Eucharistic Minister, a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council #3872 and a 4th Degree with Honorary Life. He was the Blood Drive Coordinator since 1999 and the Boy Scout Coordinator for Troup 82 of Erath. Since 1999, on the Rosary Committee, the Grand Knight for two years, Past Faithful Navigator for Rev. A. J. Braquet, and recognized as outstanding citizen for his K.C. work.
LeBlanc also belongs to the Vermilion Parish Cattleman’s Association and is an honorary member of the Henry Fire Department. He was vice president of the La Famille de LeBlanc and coordination of the Living Legends Program for the Acadian Museum.
He was married to the late Beverly Jane Suire of Erath for 41 years and they have one daughter, Bettina Marie Leblanc Desormeaux. He has two granddaughters Brittany Nicole and Callie Elizabeth Desormeaux of Delcambre.
