Raymond Lalonde *

Lalonde’s education consists of graduation from Leonville High School, University of Texas at Arlington, with degrees in mathematics and French, and a Master of Science degree from Louisiana State University. Lalonde served in the United States Air Force and has worked for Boeing Aircraft and Texas Instruments in their Semiconductor Division. After serving as a teacher and instructor, from 1991 to 2003 Lalonde was the Director and Dean of T. H. Harris Technical College.
While a member of the Louisiana House of Representatives, he served on various committees, including appropriation, agriculture, commerce, judiciary, natural resources and transportation. He chaired the special joint committee on higher education budget review where he was instrumental in supporting CODOFIL programs and foreign language initiatives.
Lalonde is fluent in French and was a member of the Association of French-speaking Parliamentarians, representing Louisiana in several Provinces of Canada. He was awarded La Pleiade, Ordre de la Francophonie for his work in the promotion and preservation of the French culture and language. He is a long-time member of Alliance Française and the Cajun French Music Association.
Lalonde is married to Evelyn Cathey and father of four children and seven grandchildren.
